An Irish expat is fighting for his life after he was hit by an ambulance in Sydney’s east over the weekend. Emergency services were called to Elizabeth St in Surry Hills when Eion Sweeney, 32, was struck by the vehicle shortly after midnight on Sunday. Paramedics treated Mr Sweeney at the scene for serious head injuries and he was rushed to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition. It is believed the ambulance crew was responding to an urgent call for assistance.
